International Children’s Park
(Re)play: Located on a 0.2-acre site at the corner of Lane and 7th Avenue South, the Donnie Chin International Children’s Park was once a popular and welcomed addition to the neighborhood of Chinatown International District. Overgrown vegetation and disrepair have led the community to begin a process to renovate the park. This project developed the initial concepts for the park renovation through community outreach and engagement. The studio developed a series of workshops and techniques, including the Design Buffet, to engage the community stakeholders. Results from the studio served as the basis for the subsequent design and implementation. Funding for the project came from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. Construction was completed in 2012. [Link] [Report]
