Street Carts

Mobile.scape: In collaboration with local merchants, IDEA Space, and the Chinatown-International District Business Improvement District, this project worked with community stakeholders to develop designs for street carts and other apparatus for street vending as allowed under Seattle’s Street Use Manual. The goal was to assist economic development in the district by working with and empowering local businesses while activating the streetscapes in the District. A more active streetscape would also deter crime and make the neighborhood safer and more attractive for residents and visitors alike. These benefits would, in turn, contribute to social and economic vibrancy in the neighborhood.
