Way to Community
International Workshops in Community Design: Against the backdrop of defunct institutional planning and economic stagnation, acts of creative, temporary placemaking have emerged in cities around the world in recent years. This workshop series invited leading practitioners around the world whose work has demonstrated both the potential and impact of creative interventions as a venue of meaningful participation and engagement in city planning. Their work suggests ways in which planning actions can expand beyond the limited institutional and procedural framework to better engage with social and community processes that occur through enactment, experience, and dialogue. Each guest practitioner was asked to develop an interactive event in a selected community in Taipei in collaboration with a local counterpart that expands the possibilities of planning actions.
