Do-It-Yourself Urbanism
Alaska Design Forum: This workshop kicked off a design challenge called Cabin in collaboration with the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center’s Cabin Fever Exhibition, from November 21, 2014, to February 8, 2015. The theme of Cabin highlights which addresses the inherent difficulties and the uniqueness of living in the frozen North. Following a talk focusing on the growing movement and examples of do-it-yourself urbanism that called out the agency and creativity of communities and citizens often in highly challenging circumstances, the workshop participants formed teams to develop design interventions that activate public spaces in the cold climate.
